Find out what nutrients you may consume to help maintain a healthy pregnancy and contribute to your developing baby's overall growth and development.
As morning sickness subsides, you will most likely begin to feel better as you enter the second trimester of your pregnancy. With this and your developing baby's rapid growth in mind, now is an ideal time to nourish your baby's growth and development with essential nutrients such as Vitamin D, DHA (an Omega-3 fat) and folic acid. Experts recommend taking a prenatal multi-vitamin to ensure that you are receiving an adequate amount of these essential nutrients1.

Plan a daily menu

This trimester, you'll gain around 1 lb (0.5 kg) per week1. Add an extra 350 calories to your normal daily diet1. Plan your meals for the day in advance, so you can be sure you are getting all the nutrients you need.

Water

Water helps your body carry nutrients to your cells, takes away waste and helps against dehydration and related fatigue. Pregnant women are advised to consume 10 cups total beverages per day, including water1.

Exercise

With your doctor's permission, stay active during your pregnancy with safe exercises to promote wellbeing and healthy weight maintenance. Ask your doctor about which exercises are best for you.
